Day 1: Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Angthong – Phitsanuloke (-)

Depart for Phitsanuloke, stop at The UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Ayutthaya, and start learning about the rich history of the Burmese invaders in the 1700s. Venture through the temple studded landscape, Wat Lokayasutharam – largest reclining Buddha image in Ayutthaya, with a length of 42 meters and 8 meters high, Wat Choeng Tha and see Wat Mahathat and snap a photo of its iconic Buddha image entwined in the roots of a tree. Continue to The Drum-Making Village in Ang Thong. Those who are interested in drum making can observe the process from
making wood into drums’ shape to skinning drums and tacking down the hide.
Next, visit Wat Muang. “Pray for blessings”, we always hear this saying everywhere at any temple where there is a Buddha image. And one of them is “Luang Pho Yai at Wat Muang, Ang Thong Province”, which is one of the largest seated Buddha images in Thailand. The villagers believe that walking up to use both of your hands to touch the tips of Luang Pho Yai’s hands will bless you to be successful in your career and prosperous in life. Further north is Phitsanulok, an important connection for north-south and east-west traffic.
