Day 1: Bangkok – Kanchanaburi (-)

Depart for Kanchanaburi, stop on the way to visit Wat Tham Sua.
Visible from far away, the temple features an impressive Buddha statue and chedi on the top of a hill. The Buddha statue, seated in the posture of giving blessings, is covered with gold mosaic and protected by an unusual shell-like structure. The huge chedi, 69 meters high and 29 meters wide, is hollow. A staircase inside the building leads up to the top. Each level has rows of Buddha statues and multiple windows from which photos can be taken of the statue below set against a backdrop of rice paddies and mountains. There are also footprints of the Buddha and an ancient pond on the hill. Behind the chedi is the Chinese pagoda of the adjacent Wat Tham Khao Noi.
Then continue to the Thai-Burma Railway Center, an interactive museum, information, and research facility dedicated to presenting the history of the Thailand-Burma Railway.
The Centre offers the visitor an educational and moving experience.
Then visit Don Rak War Cemetery. Almost 7,000 POW (prisoner of war) graves are laid out in straight lines amidst the neatly manicured lawns and gardens. After the end of World War II, the cemetery at Don Rak became the final resting place for many of those who had been forced to endure the brutal conditions imposed by the Japanese army during the construction of Thailand to Burma railway.

Day 2: Kanchanaburi – Ayutthaya (B)

Today start your day by visiting and browsing around the Bridge Over The River Kwai.
Then, experience a train ride along the unforgettable Death Railway, passing through the wooden viaduct and cliff-hugging rail. The train will pass at some impressive viewpoints where you can take some stunning photos.
Then it goes downriver and into the central plains full of sugar cane and corn, depending on the season. Trucks are piled up high with harvest and local workers ride along on top. Make sure to try a freshly pressed juice on the way. You will arrive at the former royal capital of Ayutthaya by the end of the day. This generally is a day-trippers destination and there is a countryside-calm to dining on the riverbank after the coolness of the evening takes over from the heat of the day.

Day 3: Ayutthaya – Bangkok (B)

UNESCO declared the ruins of temples and surrounding structures a world heritage site. Wat Lokayasutharam. Assumed that it was built in the middle of the Ayutthaya period. This temple has the largest reclining Buddha image in Ayutthaya, with a length of 42 meters and 8 meters high. Continue to Wat Choeng Tha. Major buildings of interest on the site include the large, well-preserved prang (tower) at the north side of the site. Immediately to the west of the prang is an old ubosot (ordination hall) which features a traditional boat-shaped base. At the back of the monastery is the wooden sermon hall with remnants of mural paintings. Then, head to Wat Mahathat Ayutthaya which is one of the oldest and most significant temples in the history of Ayutthaya as it housed the Buddha’s holy relic. The temple is most famous for the Buddha head situated in a Bodhi tree root. Your program stops at hotel in Bangkok or train station.
