List of countries that have Vietnam visa exemption
Most visitors to Vietnam will need a visa, with a few exceptions. Passport holders of the following countries, which have signed a bilateral or unilateral visa exemption with Vietnam, are not required for Vietnam visa within a certain period of time. To stay beyond this number of days, you may apply for a visa extension upon your arrival in Vietnam.

Special exemptions
- APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) are exempted from Vietnam visa for less than 60 days.
- Foreigners and Vietnamese holding foreign passport who enter Vietnam through an international border gate to travel on Phu Quoc Island and stay there for less than 30 days will also be exempted from Vietnam visa application. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months since your arrival date. After arriving on Phu Quoc Island, the Vietnamese Immigration Department is responsible for issuing visas on the spot if visitors want to travel other localities or stay in the island for more than 30 days.
Vietnam 5-year visa exemption
5-year visa exemption for Vietnam is granted to Vietnamese overseas, foreigners who are spouses, children of Vietnamese overseas, or Vietnamese citizens. The visa exemption certificate acts as a long-term visa for its holders to visit Vietnam at any time within 5 years.
Those people having a 5-year Vietnam visa exemption certificate are allowed to stay in Vietnam for 180 days at maximum for each visit. If they want to stay longer than 180 days without leaving the country, they can extend visa in Vietnam. The extended duration is up to 6 months. The Visa exemption certificate shall be valid for up to 05 years and expires at least 6 months before the expiration of the holder’s passport or equivalent paper.
