Important notes

  • All visa applications will be resulted within working hours of Vietnam Immigration Office: Monday to Friday, 8 AM until 5 PM.
  • Visa processing days exclude Saturday, Sunday and Vietnam National Holidays.
  • Visa on arrival is only applied for visitors entering Vietnam by air, to one of these four Vietnam International Airports (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Danang, Nha Trang). Other entries must have a valid visa that arranged at Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in your country.
  • Visa on arrival is legitimate, similar to Visa issued at Embassy. You can ask to receive your approval letter at Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate in your country. Faxing fee to required Embassy or Consulate will be applied.
  • Non-refundable tickets or reservations should not be purchased until all visas and passports are secured and in your possession.

Vietnam visa exemptions

List of countries that have Vietnam visa exemption

Most visitors to Vietnam will need a visa, with a few exceptions. Passport holders of the following countries, which have signed a bilateral or unilateral visa exemption with Vietnam, are not required for Vietnam visa within a certain period of time:

Special exemptions

  • APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) are exempted from Vietnam visa for less than 60 days.
  • Foreigners and Vietnamese holding foreign passport who enter Vietnam through an international border gate to travel on Phu Quoc Island and stay there for less than 15 days will also be exempted from Vietnam visa application. Passports must be valid for at least 45 days. After arriving on Phu Quoc Island, the Vietnamese Immigration Department is responsible for issuing visas on the spot if visitors want to travel other localities or stay in the island for more than 15 days.
  • Citizens of Chile and France who hold valid diplomatic or official passports are exempted from Vietnam visa for single or multiple visits with length of residence less than 90 days within 6 months.

Vietnam visa exemptions for Vietnamese-Americans

Vietnamese-American citizens or foreigners married to Vietnamese citizens may apply for a 5-Year Visa Exemption, which permits entry and up to 90 days continuous stays even without a visa.
